Church Cottage lies in 2 acres of landscaped gardens in the beautiful village of Escrick, 6 miles from the centre of York. We offer comfortable and spacious accommodation in a building that dates back to 1850, and is also home to an award-winning Thai restaurant.
There can't be a better place to stay for lovers of Thai food!

The main house can now be booked with three large bedrooms and two bathrooms so is able to comfortably accommodate up to 6 people.
Downstairs, the lovely twin bedroom has french windows that open onto the garden. Upstairs, the main bedroom has a super king-sized bed, which can be unlinked to make two 3ft wide single beds (if requested upon booking).
An adjoining door opens to another spacious bedroom with large bunk beds (lower 4ft queen size and an upper 3ft single) and a single, superior quality, folding bed. It's not intended to have three people in the extra room but the folding bed can be used if the upper bunk is unwanted. There's also a large en-suite with bath and shower. This extra bedroom has separate access by another stairway and outside door.
Also upstairs is the family bathroom and spacious lounge complete with TV/Sky+HD and DVD player (remember those). French windows lead to a private terrace above the twin bedroom. Downstairs again, there's a dining room and next to it a luxury, solid oak kitchen with Aga and modern appliances. The Aga helps to heat water for the house but there's full central heating and both bathrooms have heated floors.
Please note that a maximum of 4 people can be accommodated in Church Cottage with the two original two bedrooms (and one bathroom). The additional bedroom and bathroom will be available only for bookings of 5 or 6 people paying the charge for extra guests.
Church Cottage is available for a minimum of 2-night stays, or 3-nights during the summer months June to August. Rates, availability and booking details can be seen by visiting the Airbnb website using the link provided.
Garden Room

This is a large, ground floor bedroom with en-suite toilet/shower room. The super king-sized bed can be converted to 2 full-sized singles (if requested when booking). A compact 'kitchenette' has no hob but the large flatbed microwave also does a good job at being an oven and grill. The room has lovely views of the garden with plenty of space for dining, or just sitting, in an unshared position on the terrace.

Old Spa Rooms

The Old Spa Rooms are situated on the first floor and are self-contained and not shared. This spacious apartment has a bright and airy sitting/dining room with solid bamboo floors and lovely garden views. There's also a separate kitchen, luxury bathroom and large double/twin bedroom. The accommodation is best suited for two people and so the bed arrangement allows the room to be a twin bedroom if preferred.

Other things to note
There's plenty of free, off-road parking. The site has fibre-optic business broadband and wi-fi is available in all rooms. Mobile phone reception is good for all networks.
The neighbourhood
York with its racecourse, shops - and not forgetting all that history - lies only 15 minutes away by car or bus. Even closer is the York Designer Outlet, an irresistible attraction for those wanting serious retail therapy. There's a convenient Park and Ride there too. Guests with interests more outdoors than indoors, may prefer the peace and quiet of Escrick and the surrounding countryside. Very close to us are internationally important nature reserves at Skipwith Common and the Lower Derwent Valley.
Getting around
Frequent buses to York and Selby stop near the end of our drive. The National Cycle Network runs from the centre of York across the Vale of York to Selby and follows the track of the old East Coast Mainline railway. Cyclists can safely explore the area without needing to venture onto any busy roads.
